had seen a sign on the building earlier in the week for a free concert at the Narodni Muzej (National Museum, which, by the by, is still not open as a museum), so decided to attend. its program focused on (by which i mean, contained only) works by Dejan Desić, a 20th century composer from here. the music itself was nothing special, but knowing much better, after three months, how to figure out what's going on in this place (most importantly, in the "slobodan [free admission]" category) is exhilarating. every time i am, i realise how much i love being out here, in the middle of it, particularly at night, when everything bustles until all hours: the groups of milling people, the lights along the banded-in-parallel bridges along the Sava, the buses being driven so fast they look as though they will tip over.
by the time i reached home, i had fairly set myself up for being caught in the current wash of excitement about my city. i shall have to take greater caution in the future.
