book trade
truth of (English speaking, although which kind of English remains a matter of speculation and further determination) ex-pat existence #24: though you'll collect a whole slough of furtively-slipped contact numbers with as many invitations attached to each of them, roughly 67.369% will be void before the month is out. meanwhile, upon the lightning leavings and replacements, there will be a mass shuffle of books. you will come home with more than you can carry on each occasion, the armful telling you as much about the identity of the most recent departurer (hard-cover Vikram Seth, Lonely Planet "Pakistan," Essential Writings of Mahatma Gandhi, among the newest additions) as how your unbounded interests make it such that several gift tomes were already on the desktop sticky "Coveting List."
