nationalism is a valiant attempt to cover for a regional identity which has become, and is still in the process of becoming further, so narrow that it can support nothing, enacted by a group of individuals who realise this limiting fact—its circumscription and its capability to strangle—and are so desperate that they can only grasp for what seems, at first, an inverse but is, in fact, worse than an identity function.
