the objective: relying solely on the amazing power of comparisons, to realise that my chosen current situation is more comprehensible than i have, quite scathingly, thought lately.

the procedure: find a place whose language is more unfamiliar than the one with which i daily wrestle to the death.

Song o šetanju kroz Pariz [Song about walking around Paris]

Kad čoveka zgrabi neka kriza
on bi odmah skokno do Pariza.

Pariz nije ni šuma ni reka
Toje jedna varoš podaleka.

Kuće lepe a prolazi uski
Čak i deca govore francuski.

Možeš gledat tri četiri sata
Kao tele u šarena vrata.

Gledajući i šetuckajući
Stalno misliš kada li ću kući.

Kada li ću u Jugoslaviju
U zavičaj u svoju avliju.

Ponekad je lepše da se šeta
Oko kuće nego oko sveta.

[When a crisis grabs someone,
he would jump to Paris.

Paris is neither forest nor river,
just a city far away.

Houses are nice, passageways narrow,
and even the children speak French.

You can watch for three or four hours,
like a calf in a colourful door [ie. with wide eyes].

Watching and walking,
always thinking about when you will be home.

When you'll be in Jugoslavia,
your homeland and your own yard.

Sometimes it's better to take a walk
around your house than around the world.]
