speaking of the artist formerly known as having one too many given names...running now on mine, purchased after some consideration (figuring out just what i could sacrifice), which means that i can listen to music without it being drowned out by the noise which magnifies greatly on its way up from the street.
there seems to be a small problem, however: from the perch that is my flat, i get a constant radio din therethrough (in addition to via the signal in my teeth, but i've fairly gotten used to that), yet if i crank the volume so as to cover this (and other, apartment-related) insidiousness, the speakers, themselves, max out with a condemning buzz. if i can't choose and/or beat some lesser evils into submission, there may have to be further immolation.
in itunes 6.0 (maybe it has existed for some time, but i, myself, was in beta until recently), the search process has been perfected, such that instead of getting (maddeningly) stuck at the first entry under the letter of the artist/song for which one searches—now it's possible to *quickly* type the first several, thereby mouselessly arriving at still narrower specificity. where it matters.

K-n-o-p-f-l-e-r to B-e-o-g-r-a-d? everyone else on *any* of my playlists (another discussion, another day) is too old to travel such lengths, dead, or no longer a member of the band in which he/she was any good. i missed the Tim/Jeff Buckley revival/memorial event last week and, now, Phil Collins is the only thing happening here for a while. needless to say, bleakness heaped upon itself.

from that jumpy (mark knopfler) song, "postcards from paraguay." have you somehow failed to learn, in this all-lecture-no-discussion-course, the survival technique: when confused about some involution or other, first run the lyric search of your choice?
