full of hollow

while i camped and walked and, above all, was isolated, the earth heaved. the first thing i read upon return is tragedy, and it continues to magnify. bookcases chained to walls at home, protecting heads ("everything else can be replaced") beneath desks too small for that everything else: these are one thing—when there are no more walls, no more buildings, no more inhabitants, the movement of solid rock is no longer familiar in its freedom.

MCC, as it is wont, has risen to the occasion of great need. i refer you to its website in general (so you can navigate yourself) or the main/specific donation page.
