now i will tell you what you will not believe—
and, afterwards, you will never doubt my unlikely tales again.

for days i've been reading some other (inferior to down-right condescending) retellings to various groups of kids, but today i found Peter Spier's Noah's Ark (superlative-in-the-genre)in our "library" (a handful). almost before i even got to leafing through that wonderful book (definitely before the dutch enumeration/description of beasts), i encountered the following:

in all languages,
the words are very little.
even i can say:
my sister's church (before it was hers)
gave us this book (before we were us).
