David and Sara came down from Novi Sad today, and we met at st mary's, the anglican church in town. my attempt at creative bussage meant that i hiked there in the rain, but was still there before service started. friendly people, lusty singing (much of it out of tune: a dynamite combination, eh?), and lots of liturgy. i think i might frequent it, at least when i'm in town.
afterwards we walked into town in the drizzle, either wearing sweatshirts or wishing we'd brought them. "chinese" food for lunch, over which we sat for a few hours. have i mentioned that it's good to talk? (by the by, even when it's cloudy, i can see my apartment from almost anywhere). D and S were either going to spend their MCC "worker renewal" money on a movie or head back home, so we parted ways. i wandered a little, went to the only mosque here; it was destroyed about a year ago, but has been quickly rebuilt almost in entirety (the parts that aren't freshly bricked up still gape). somewhat dampened—perhaps by the gray weather, perhaps by all that superficial good byes connote.
the washing machine is dead again. since it's obviously an electrical problem, i was up in the fuse box (with Danijela and Ana looking on, not so sure about this), but unable to wiggle or tighten anything enough to spur it into action.
