slander and the city

watching a movie about [the clouds above] Beograd at the end of class today.

why do some make an immediate connection between knowing something and being able to talk about it? when it comes to places, the tragic arrogance grows without bounds, in part because its resulting expressions appear justified: the unshakeable fact of having been, beyond doubt, some[specific]where confused with the license to claim it (in thought and speech). this is the error of "personal experience," multiplied into insult: to assume that one's having lived something as sufficient reason for its existence, without realising that it could very well do so (and has) on its own, without the one intent on inflating a narrow sliver of random moments both into a totality and bearing the certainty which accompanies only such.

a segment of the film about the Genex building (after all, tallest in the city). i couldn't even say that i had lived two stories from its top.
